Admission Standards
The minimum age for enrollment with The American Academy – Indiana is 5, and we serve students through age 21 (must be under 22 on October 1). We provide coursework for grades Kindergarten-12.
Indiana students’ residency, age, and evidence of custody (if applicable) must be verified through the collection of appropriate documentation before enrollment approval. One document proving Indiana residency will be collected and must contain the address or service address provided as the physical address during enrollment and must be valid and current. Student addresses will be verified annually.
Students denied admission to The American Academy – Indiana may appeal. Students who wish to appeal the denial decision must inform the The American Academy – Indiana principal or designee in writing via email.
Students with Exceptional Educational Needs
As an Indiana-approved Choice Scholarship virtual school and private school, The American Academy – Indiana K-12 does not provide special education services. Families of students who require special education services should contact their local public-school corporation, which is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining Service Plans
- Providing any required special education and related services such as but not limited to social work, speech therapy, occupational therapy, hearing and vision therapy, etc.
At The American Academy – Indiana K-12, we are committed to supporting all students and will provide reasonable accommodations as outlined in the plan. Due to our Universal Design for Learning (UDL) instructional approach, many accommodations are already integrated into our curriculum to support diverse learning needs.
Enrollment Capacity
We are a virtual school and have no enrollment capacity limitations; therefore, no enrollment lottery is required. In the event that an enrollment capacity is determined and established, our leadership will develop and implement an enrollment lottery process.
