High School Graduation Requirements

Current Requirements (Classes of 2025–2028)

To earn your diploma from The American Academy – Indiana, you will need to:

Complete a total of 40.0 credits aligned to the Indiana Core 40 graduation requirements in the subjects shown below.

Demonstrate employability skills through at least one of the following:

• Project-Based Learning Experience
• Service-Based Learning Experience
• Work-Based Learning Experience

Demonstrate readiness for college, career, or military through one of the following options:

College & Academic Options

• ACT: Meet benchmarks in at least two areas (English/Reading and Math/Science)
• SAT: Meet benchmarks (Reading/Writing: 480, Math: 530)
• AP / IB / Dual Credit / CLEP: Earn a C average or higher in 3+ courses/exams

Career & Workforce Options

• CTE Concentrator: Complete a state-approved CTE sequence
• Industry Certification: Earn a state-approved credential
• Apprenticeship: Complete a federally recognized apprenticeship

Other Options

• ASVAB: Score 31+ and complete enlistment intent form
• Honors Diploma: Meet Academic or Technical Honors requirements
• Locally Created Pathway: Complete an approved local pathway

Future Indiana Diploma (Class of 2029 and Beyond)

Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, The American Academy – Indiana will implement the Future Indiana Diploma for students graduating in 2028–2029 and beyond. This new diploma requires a minimum of 42 credits and offers more flexibility for electives, career exploration, and work-based learning. Instead of separate Graduation Pathways, students will demonstrate readiness for college, career, or service by earning Readiness Seals as part of their diploma. Course requirements are set by the Indiana Department of Education and may be refined over time.
