Q: What are the eligibility requirements?
A: Students must be between the ages of 5 and 21 (under 22 by October 1) and live in Indiana. We work with students who qualify for the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program (ICSP).
Q: Are there enrollment application deadlines?
A: The American Academy – Indiana is open for enrollment beginning in March through September 1 for fall-semester enrollment. Spring-semester enrollment begins in November and closes on January 15.
Q: Are there any out-of-pocket expenses to attend?
A: Yes, we have a flat-rate tuition each semester. To learn more about tuition and fees, visit our Tuition page. If you are eligible for the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program, your tuition may be fully covered.
Q: Are there any face-to-face requirements?
A: Coursework is completed 100% online. Elementary and middle school students have synchronous sessions with teachers and Learning Coaches Monday through Thursday, and high school students have opportunities for synchronous support throughout the week. All meetings with teachers, coaches, and tutors are conducted online. Any required state testing will be in-person at a location close to your residence.
Q: What are the graduation requirements for this program?
A: To earn your diploma from The American Academy – Indiana, you will need to complete a total of 40.0-42.0 credits, depending on the graduation year, in various subjects. More details can be found on the Graduation Requirements page.
Q: How long will it take to complete my diploma?
A: That depends on how many credits you transfer in and how quickly you work. Typically, students are expected to earn at least 1 credit/month or 10 credits/year but you can complete courses more quickly if you would like. You can graduate as soon as you meet all the requirements – no need to wait until May!
Indiana Choice Scholarship Program Questions
Q: Are you an approved Indiana Choice Scholarship school?
A: Yes! We are formally approved by the Indiana Department of Education as an Indiana Choice Scholarship school. Our school ID number is A199.
Q: What is the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program?
A: The Choice Scholarship Program provides state funding to qualifying students to offset tuition costs at participating Choice schools. Students qualify based on household income until July 1, 2026. Those who apply after July 1, 2026, are not subject to household income eligibility balance.
Q: Who is responsible for determining a student’s Choice Scholarship eligibility?
A: The parent/guardian of the student must provide documentation establishing eligibility to the participating Choice school before the application is submitted. This documentation must be kept on file at the school for the Indiana Department of Education to validate eligibility.
Q: How is the amount of the Choice Scholarship award determined?
A: You can view the amount of the Choice Scholarship award your student qualifies for by locating your school district of residence on the Indiana Department of Education Choice Scholarship website under “Period One Award Amounts” for the designated full academic year or “Period Two Award Amounts” for second semester enrollments.
Q: Will you help me complete all the requirements to apply for the Choice Scholarship Program?

Q: How will families be notified of the Choice Scholarship awarded to their child?
A: Since we will be assisting with submitting the application, we will also be provided with either an award or denial letter when the application is submitted. Families should retain copies of all forms and letters.
Q: Can a parent/guardian of a student apply for a Choice Scholarship at multiple schools?
A: A student can only have one application for a given application period, typically a semester. If a student’s Choice Scholarship application has been submitted and their parent/guardian wishes to apply at a different school, the parent/guardian must withdraw the student’s application at the original Choice school. Then they can submit an application at a different Choice school.
